Bon Soir Brassens: A celebration of the life and songs of Georges Brassens


Jake fans may be interested in the following concert designed to acknowledge the anniversary in October 2011 of the birth and death of Jake's hero, the great French singer Georges Brassens:

A celebration of the life and songs of Georges Brassens @ The Waiting Room, Eaglescliffe, Sunday 23rd October, 7.30pm

Georges Brassens (1921-1981) was known as ‘the man with the famous moustache’. Brassens wrote and sang songs in the chanson tradition, combining sparse but harmonically complex music with words which were poetic, satirical and lyrical. This concert is a tribute to Brassens in the anniversary year of both his birth and his death.

In performance:
Projet Brassens the foremost UK exponents of Brassens’ songs.
Rudolf Rocker who have transposed Brassens’ songs from Languedoc-Roussillon to the North East Coast of England.
Bob Fischer Legendary DJ/singer who will perform Brassens in the style of Jake Thackray.
